RE: Problem during installation of SAP IDES 4.7 on oracle

Hi all,

When i am installing the database instance, at the DBLoad phase i am getting following message

Does this mean the process in hanged or is it running?

Can you please help me out of this problem

Hi,

DB Load takes a lot of time to finish its activities. The installation is running fine without any issues. If at all there is any error then the installation will be stopped and error will be displayed.

Dear colleague,

You can check progress in sapinst_instdir directory - timestamps of files in this directory can tell you about time of the last activity

Go to this directory (for example my last directory path was /tmp/sapinst_instdir/NW04S/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS-ABAP ) and check timestamps

Unix: ls -altr

Win: Sort by timestamp

If timestamps are too old don't worry and check your R3load processes persistance on OS level

Unix: ps -ef | grep R3load

Win: In Task manager

If there is no R3load process but sapinst still shows no error - possible that it hang

So is this some thing to worry about. I am also having that problem i think its in an infinite loop its now running for 2 hours and still haven't finished is this normal. how long does it take for this process to complete in normal case...pls some body help.

A database load can take several hours, depending on the speed of your machine, the number of parallel R3load processes and the speed of your harddisk.

Please check the logfiles in the directory given, sort them by date and check the latest ones.

ok...finally i got it installed it took almost 2 days to complete. Thank you all for ur kind help and support.
