Customer master data

The Customer master consists of major components like sold to ,ship to ,bill to ,payee, open account, closed account. Can anyone help me the meaning of these terms and who gives this data to whom?

SOLD - to - Party

Customer that orders the goods

Can perform all primary partner functions — sold-to, ship-to, payer, bill-to

Primary type of business partner

Cannot be linked to other sold-to partners

SHIP - to - Party

Party that receives the goods

Can be created as an independent partner and linked to one or more sold-to partners

bill to

Party that receives the invoice

Can be created as an independent partner and linked to one or more sold-to partners

payee

Party that sends the payment

Can be created as an independent partner and linked to one or more sold-to partners

Hi,

These are partner functions. In sap all the business contact are called as partners, like.. sold-to-party (To whom you are selling), Ship-to-party (To whom you are shipping the goods to), Bill-to-party (agaist whom you are sending the invoice), payer (who is giving the payment)... etc...

All theses partner function can be the same as the sol-to-party or different.
