Dispatcher Stopped in ECC 5-IDES Version

Hai everyone.

I have successfully installed ECC 5 IDES Version using windows 2003 and oracle 9.2.1

I didnt have any problems with central instance and database instance.Everything was fine.

Wen i started SID in MMC Console,the Dispatcher is completely stopped and its not running.Then i have observed at services that oracleTNSListener is in manual mode and the service has not started.

I changed the manual to automatic and started the TNSListener service.Then DIspatcher is up and started working.

Can anyone tell me why the OracleTNSlistener has not started automatically and why is it in manual mode

Hai it worked fine wen i set oracleTNSlistener to automatic and started the service.

Wen i restart the system,again the dispatcher is stopped completely though oracleTNSlistener is in automatic and started..

Please help me out and will award points if you can solve my problem

Hi. By default the oracleTNSlistener has "manual" mode. After you change this on "auto" the service will automatically start then you start OS.

My oracleTNSListener is automatic and started wen i start my OS.

I dont understand the strange problem that dispatcher is stopped automatically wen i start the MMC.

Again wen i close MMC and open the same,its working fine and i can connect..

I know it sounds funny,but dont understand why its happening ike that though i didnt have any problems with central instance and database instance installation while installing ECC 5 Ides version.

Please let me know what could be the problem

After you close and open again the MMC you star sap again

or it's already started? If you only close and open MMC it's no problem with SAP , it's MMC problem.Try when next time will see that the dispatcher is stopped simply to press refresh

on MMC. Regards.

Wen my dispatcher is stopped,then what i m doing is i m stopping the SID and then i m closing the MMC console..

I m closing the MMC console only after stopping the SID

please help me if you can with this strange problem

Your database is not fully started - or shutting down.

What release of Oracle are you using? Did you apply the 9.2.0.8 patchset and the latest interim patch?

| didnt understand what you said..

When trying to start the server with SAP managment console

messeger and dispatcher comes up fine. But within some seconds dispatcher stops.

When trying to restart again messeger starts but dispatcher turns yellow with a message "dialog queue standstill" and stops.

Please see the developer trace below.Need your help to bring the server up.

The dispatcher dies because the workprocesse die. And they do that because your database is not in a consistent state (as the log says):

According to the installation guide need to install

- Oracle 9.2.0.x

- Install Oracle patchset 9.2.0.8 (or at least 9.2.0.7)

- Install the latest interim patch

and THEN start the installation.

alert_sid.log and post it. Also in this file we can see the oracle which you use (line like this :

you probably installed SAP on a server with not enough CPU power or not enough RAM.

make sure that these services are started:

OracleSID102TNSListener

OracleServiceSID

SAPSID_00

Saposcol

so, to be safe, start Oracle manually first:

SQLPLUS "/ as sysdba"

startup

exit

then, start SAP through SAPMMC.

it should do the trick.

also, the listener was in manual mode because you have not installed Oracle the proper way. you must install it using script SAPSERVER.CMD, not by using setup.exe
