Dear Gurus,

I am planning to install the two seprate R/3 4.7 Enterprise Ext.200 SR1 (central) instances on one host ( windows 2003 Standard R2 server.)

**Server Configuration :-**

**CPU :- Intel Xeon 3.0 Ghz.**

**RAM:- 4 GB**

**HDD :- 380 GB**

**OS :- Windows 2003 Standard Edition R2 SP1**

**Database :- Oracle 9.4.0.1**

**SAP :- R/3 4.7E X 200 SR1(NON UNICODE)**

I have query related to

1)On above system configuration the two sap instances will run or not?

2) Oracle that I have to install oracle two times or Can I create two databases using the single oracle executable directory ?

3) If I have to install oracle two times then what configuration I have to do to connect to the database?

4)What about the Host names ? I have to define two host names ? How ?

5) What activities I have to perform post installation ?

Please help me on this.

Thanks & Regards,

Ans to your query :

1)On above system configuration the two sap instances will run or not?

How many users are you trying to connect. I would say, it will work but you would have real performance issue. The above config is just ok types.

2) Oracle that I have to install oracle two times or Can I create two databases using the single oracle executable directory ?

You need to install oracle onc and have seperate databases for DEV & QAS

3) If I have to install oracle two times then what configuration I have to do to connect to the database?

4)What about the Host names ? I have to define two host names ? How ?

Only one hostname is request. mentioned it in the \WINDOWS\systemXX\drivers\etc\hosts and under My Computer - > Properties -> Computer Name tab

5) What activities I have to perform post installation ?

Post installation activites are mentioned in the Installation guide. https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/instguides

Hi Shaji,

I am reopening the thread.

*2) Oracle that I have to install oracle two times or Can I create two databases using the single oracle executable directory ?*

*You need to install oracle onc and have seperate databases for DEV & QAS*

I changed the Oracle version from 9.2 to 10.2 as i want to install 64 bit database & 9.2 dont have 64 bit client released.

Can you please how to create the second database ?

One more query regarding this is if offline backup runs on development system in that case my QAS will run or it also goes down ?

I had open a thread for installing this two oracle homes on one host for your refrence.

Is it necesary to install the oracle again to achive the task ?

My second query is about the sapmnt folder & saposcol service on windows.

As i am installing two instances, two diffrent usr directories will create but shares with one sharing name sapmnt & try to run two SAPOSCOL service how can i avoid this conflict?

Please help me to clear my doubts.

Thanks,

Sachin

Hi Sachin,

SAPINST will help/guide you to create a DB instance using the existing Oracle Home.

You can skip the Oracle Installation step and continue with the DB instance setup step in SAPINST.

When you stop DEV instance (DB+CI for offline backup), your QAS will not have any affect and will be operational.

Both instance (DEV and QAS) will only have affect when you are upgrading Oracle software (patchset, Interim patches) since they are using same Oracle home.

Keep watching the thread that you created for Two Oracle Home on same host.

During the installation you will need to sapmnt/<SID> so there will be seperate folder in sapmnt with respective <SID>.

Ideally there should be only one saposcol service running on one host even if there are more than one SAP instances on the same host.

Hope this information helps you.

32 Bit Oracle 9.2 is not supported at all on Windows 64 Bit operating systems (neither the database server nor the database client software).

HI,

On this drive there are binaries of dev instance is already present. I try to modify it but it is not modifiable

what you need to modify?

there is only one usr folder within one host.

for example right now you have f:\usr\sap\DEV

if you are going to install QAS then it's create new folder in f:\usr\sap\QAS

Hi Sachin,

You got F: because of the preivous installation and system environment variables.

There can be more than 1 usr folder on same host but you need to choose different dirve.

If you want to keep your /usr/sap/DEV and /usr/sap/QAS different choose different dirve for your QAS installation for SAP Binaries.

Hi Nilesh,

Please let me know how can I change the drive for SAP Binaries of second instance while running Sapinst as by default it takes the drive of First installed drive (i.e F: & I am unable to change it to another one),which I dont want to use.I want to use I: instad of this which will help me to keep seperate trans & other directories.

Waiting for your valuable reply.

Hi Kaushal,

Thanks for your reply.

Is it not possible to keep the Binaries of QAS & DEV instances on different usr directories on different drive?

I want to do this.

Hi,

For every additional R/3 System you must select a different <SID> and a different instance number. The directory \usr\sap must be identical for all instances of one host. Thus, it is not possible to place \usr\sap for different instances on different drives

Hi,

Means all installed instances will share one trans directory.

Since all instances use single trans direcory, any issue will arrise in future about TMS configuration, datafile, cofiles.

Hi,

if two instance are in single sap host then it's share common trans directory, and if instance are on different host then you can also set common transport directory for SAP system in landscape

SAP recommended to use common transport directory.

there is no problem arise due to common transport directory

in short without wasting your time just start the installation of QAS System.

Hi Sachin,

As said earlier the entries are picked up due to the previous installation, rename your previous sapinst_instdir folder to sapinst_instdir.old and start the installation once again.

This folder should be available in your C:

Choose Custom option and not Typical during your installation step and enter your new drive letter new <SID> and <NR> and further inputs.

Hi Nilesh/Kaushal

Thanks for your support, I really appriciate it.

I had install the QAS instance successfully on one sever.

Now both QAS & DEV instances are up & running.

But I am facing problem while executing transactions related to database i.e st04,st03,db12,db02.

After executing this transactions I received followng dumps.

1) Runtime Errors DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR

Exception CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR

Database error text........: "ORA-00904: "KEY": invalid identifier"

Triggering SQL statement...: "FETCH NEXT "

Internal call code.........: "[DBDS/NEW DSQL]"

2) Runtime Errors RAISE_EXCEPTION

Exception condition "DB_RELEASE_UNKNOWN" raised

Error analysis

A RAISE statement in the program "SAPLSORA" raised the exception

condition "DB_RELEASE_UNKNOWN".

Since the exception was not intercepted by a superior program

in the hierarchy, processing was terminated.

3)Runtime Errors BCD_ZERODIVIDE

Exception CX_SY_ZERODIVIDE

An exception occurred. This exception is dealt with in more detail below

. The exception, which is assigned to the class 'CX_SY_ZERODIVIDE', was neither

caught nor passed along using a RAISING clause, in the procedure

"SKOM_CT_PERF_BUF_REDO" "(FUNCTION)"

.

Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception

to occur, the running program was terminated.

The reason for the exception is:

In the current program "SAPLSKOM", an arithmetic operation ('DIVIDE',

'/', 'DIV', or 'MOD') with a type P operand attempted to divide

by 0.

4) Runtime Errors COMPUTE_BCD_OVERFLOW

Exception CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW

Error analysis

An exception occurred. This exception is dealt with in more detail below

. The exception, which is assigned to the class 'CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW',

was neither

caught nor passed along using a RAISING clause, in the procedure

"SKOM_CT_PERF_BUF_LIB" "(FUNCTION)"

.

Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception

to occur, the running program was terminated.

The reason for the exception is:

An overflow has been determined in the current arithmetical operation

containing operands of type P. Possible causes include:

1. The results field of type P is to small and the result does not fit

into it.

places.

2. The result or partial result has more than 31 decimal places.

Hi,

try to search sap notes for above error, if you are not able to find suitable notes then open new thread for this error.

provide details of databse release, kernel version , support package level of sap system in new thread.

close this thread.

**Database :- Oracle 9.4.0.1**

9.4..0.1?? what's that? or just a typo meaning 9.2.0.1?

you will need to patch your oracle version to 9.2.0.8 (incl. several opatches), because this is the only supported oracle 9i version by now
