How should I go to get to WAS 6.40

Hi All

I am pretty new to this forum. The problem I encountered was quite wired as far as I'm concerned. Here it goes:

I just finished an WAS 6.40 ABAP + Java Add-in installation (I hoped so). From SAPGUI, I saw the kernel was 640.

But from SPAM, SAP_ABA, SAP_BASIS were all 620.

Here is the list of CD/DVDs to make the installation:

Oracle92_NT_51030122_1

Oracle92_NT_51030122_2

Oracle92_NT_51030122_3

Oracle92_92041_51030122_4

47200_SR1_Master_Oracle_51030437

Kernel_640_U_ORACLE_51030474

Export_1_51030427_1

Export_2_51030427_2

Export_3_51030427_3

Export_4_51030427_4

Export_5_51030431_1

Export_6_51030431_2

Export_7_51030431_3

Export_8_51030431_4

Master_NW04_SR1_Installation_Win_51031148

SAP_NW04_SR1_IGS_5103724_1

SAP_NW04_SR1_J2EE_Engine_51030724_2

SAP_NW04_SR1_J2EE_Engine_SCS_51030724_3

For WAS640 ABAP installation, I started the sapinst.exe from 47200_SR1_Master_Oracle_51030437, later I found this installer did not have J2EE Add-in entry, then I realized maybe it's not the right one.

So I had to use Master_NW04_SR1_Installation_Win_51031148 to finish the J2EE add-in installation. The whole installation seemed ok, I could log onto J2EE Engine to run some samples.

Since what I really need is a WAS 6.40 system, my question is that how I can go from this "mixed" installation?

Should I go with the update process? Hom complicated with that?

From other post I saw SAP_Netweaver_SR1_Installation_Export_51030721 was mensioned to be used as WAS 6.40 installation. I checked the content insides, it's about EXPORT.

If I start a new installation, is it ok just to use this EXPORT, instead of the exports 1~8 I used?

Thanks in advance for any response.

Regards

Xueqing

On your ABAP side, sign in using SAPgui. Click System, Status. Tell me what it says under SAP System Data.

Hi Rich

Sorry for the late response.

The component version under SAP System Data was "SAP R/3 Enterprise".

Under Kernel informatinon, it gave Kernel release as 640.

Is it ok or am I in troble ?

I didn't know that 4.7 ran on 6.40, I thought that it only ran on 6.20. I guess it is possible to upgrade the WebAS only. If that is how it install from the CDs then I would go with it. Are you seeing any system issues now?

Hi Rich

Thanks for your opinion.

The issue I am facing is that I need to install cFolders (a PLM product from SAP as well) to a "640" system.

The required components for that is SAP_ABA, SAP_BASIS 640. Somehow, the installation I got just does not have them.

I think probabaly I have to either update it or re-install a new instance.

Thanks again for your help.

I finally decided to re-install the whole stuff by using SAP_Netweaver_SR1_Installation_Export_51030721 to replace the EXPORT 1~8 CDs. Then it gave me what I needed.

So the problem was resolved.
