Hi,
What r Routing Rules?
--> Routing rules are used to pre-define the destination points based on the conditions. For e.g. suppose you data contains company name and basd on company name you need to divert this message to the respective system, Then you need to define some routing rules for runtime decisions.
You could do this with Conditional editor/ XPATH expression in Receiver Detrmination.
What is Channel Determination?
--> extending to above answer, the Channel determination is not available in XI. There is conditional editor which could be used to select the Business system /service having communication channels

There is one CHANNEL_DETERMINATION_FAILED error which is typically caused when one is trying to test message payload in the RWB/Adapter Engine instead of the RWB/Integration Engine.
Start the Runtime Workbench > Component Monitoring > Integration Server > Integration Engine > Test Message.
