Upgraded from Iseries 825 V5R2 to Iseries 550 V5r4 and some table have 0 rc

WE just upgraded our current production system from an IBM 825 on V5R2 to 550 V5R4

WE followed IBM's procedures, we did a save 21 on the old system.

We did a scratch install on the new 550 and then we followed the procedures in chapter 14.

rstlib nonsys

rstcfg

and etc.

We just found out for one of our table EUDB has 0 records.

Is there a way to find out which tables have 0 records or what other problems we might have.

Thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,

you could do a DSPFD to an outfile as follows:

SBMJOB CMD(DSPFD FILE(R3FESDATA/ALL) TYPE(MBRLIST) OUTPUT(OUTFILE) FILEATR(PF) OUTFILE(QGPL/R3FESDATA)) JOB(DSPFD)

then you can use SL in order to find the tables ...

BUT:

Thousends of them are empty by default !!!

ok, EUDB needs to have rows - but I cannot believe, that this oine had rows on the old system and no longer after restore !!!!!!!

What happened is this.

During the restore on new system using procedures from Chapter 14 during the rstlib(nonsys) dev(xxxx) option(new) alwobjdif(all) mbrotp(all) frcobjcvn(no) endopt(leave) omitobj(qofc) job ended abnormally.

When job ended abnormally it was restoring files from R3p01data

At this time I called IBM and they had me change some system values.

I asked IBM should we change the rstlib command and he said no.

Job ended abnormally again, I think they had me change my jobd.

Again restarted rstlib with the same options.

It finally finished and everything came up.

On thursday abaper come to us with a problem with one of his transaction, and it was trying to use table EUDB that's when we noticed that the table had no records.

I looked at about 40 files and they have no records

I looked at the spool job from rstlib and lots of files were restored.

We're been running for a week now. My problem is that I do not know how many files might not have been fully restored or not restored at all.

I'm in big trouble

We cannot go back a week.

Thanks

Hi Joe,

do it all again !!!!

Are you sure, that you changed the system value QJOBMSGQFL on *WRAP or *PRTWRAP ? Otherwise, it will crash again ...

You should delete R3sidDATA and just restore this one - but it needs to be successful !!!

We're been running on the new system for the whole week.

We would loose all the data for this week in I restore to last week.

I will probably loose my job.

Hi Joe,

ok, then you DO HAVE AN ISSUE ;-(((

Then it might be an option to use DSPFD opn both system and compare the delta ....

It is very ugly, but you have to "heal it somehow" one by one .... we could support you there.

Is there a command where I can do the dspfd and then printout the output so that I can start comparing files one by one.

Thanks

Hi Joe,

for sure - but as I said - now you need a bit experience ... otherwise it will just fail ;-((

I would use DSPFD => *OUTDFILE - put the files to one i5 and use a join with SQL or Query/400 - if this is not sufficient information for you, you are not the correct person to fix it ...

I followed your procedures and I have looked at 15,243 files out of 22,745 so far.

So far I found about 42 files with 0 records in our production system most of them are for ex:

euinfo, evfl, evflt , evsk , ewagg, ewesc , tcguefu, tcguepa, tcguepana, tcg41, tcg42, tcgs3 , tdws. tdws, some sq1000_db4, sq3001_db4

I have about 4 files esdus old systme 16735 records new system 3032

esru0 old system 12985 new system 46

eufunc old system 141 new system 4

euf4values old system 55 new system 6

I was thinking of not restoring the above new file esru0 - eufunc

what do you think

thanks

Hi Joe,

sorry, but I do not recommend anything via this forum in this critical situation. I have to see that and then make a decision. All decisions are bad decisions here ;-((
