strdbs.cmd database could not be started

deal all,

i have by mistake upgraded non unicode NW AS ABAP AS JAVA server with base patch level 52 with unicode kernel version 133 .i can start and stop the database database but unable to start sap.disp+work status stopped.strdbs.cmd goes to red colour.i am unable to start the MMC using the backup of version 52 of non uniciode.the traces i get are pasted here. please help me with solution.reward points are fully given.

This means that your dboraslib file is not at the correct version.

have you downloads SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB files and uncompressed them?

yes,i uncarred them using sapcar -xvf.. i tried replacing the files dboraslib.dll and dboraslib.pdb from 147 version.

lib dbsl 147 database library that is downloadable in SMP. nothing seems to be working.please help me with possible chances i am missing out on.

have you updated your kernel in directory D:\usr\sap\BWD\DVEBMGS01\exe\ ? becsaue hthis is where SAP is searching for the DBoraslib.dll file.

althoug it's a very old thread I have a solution which worked for me:

unpack file strdbs.cmd from DBATOOLS.SAR and save it in DIR_CT_RUN (<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\<uc|nuc>\NTADM64

I had the same problem same error everything I think there is something wrong with the Kernel I was implementing 185 and got the errors. I renamed the DB*lib files to .old and copied the ones from the old Kernel and it started right up. I opened up a message with Sap. Hope this helps

Hi,

I also faced the same issue earlier. What I did is, I stopped MMC, DB and all the services. Then deleted the unicode kernel and copied the non unicode kernel there. Then restarted the server. Now you can start the services, DB and MMC. Now there should not be any problem. Try this out. If works, let everybody know

Hi,

Pls follow the below mentioned procedure :

1) Stopsap All SAP Instances

2) Shutdown the database

3) Delete all files and <subdir> under exe

4) uncar kernel / replace with old backup kernel

ensure the kernel files in both directory are replaced ie /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/run and /usr/sap/<SID>/SCS<inst.no>

5) Delete SAP services listed in services.msc and recreate them :

Run the following at the os cmd level

To Delete

-> scdelete <sap service name>

To Recreate -

> sapstartsrv /* enter the details in the screen

6) Start DB

7) Start the services

Please let me know how its doing.

actually,i deleted the users SAP<SID>_IN

and recreated them,but i couldnt recreate the saposcol.still i tried to up the system,but no change.it was a development system just built up,so i unistalled the sap and going fresh now.

Hi,

You can use the ntscmgr service to delete any service and create it again in Windows environment.
