Specify means of transport increasing the length of the description

Hi all,

We are working on a MMSUS scenario with SRM 5.0 and ECC 6.0 as the backend.

In the SRM Server --> Supplier Self Services --> Cross Application Basic Setting --> Specifiy Means of Transport we have texts upto the length of 20 characters.

This is appearing in the Create ASN screen where vendor selects the mode of transport lorry, truck, ship like that .

We have a big list of transport mode where the character length is more than 20. Our client dont want to shorten this as the vendor will not understand and will create confusion.

Is there anyway technically we can increase the length of this 20 characters?

An early help in this regard is highly appreciated.

this can be done only by changes at the table level.

1) transaction Se11

2) enter BBPV_SUS_TRATY in table field

3) click display

4) data element TEXT20 should be replaced with TEXT40

But i am not sure wether you are allowed to make any changes in standard SAP.

after the above changes --> you need to make changes at the BSP level for ASN --> to display all characters

Thanks for the reply.

But we have a doubt whether this will affect any other fields where the same text is being used as it is updated in the inbound delivery in the backend.

Can you please confirm that change in text will not affect any other code?

It is recommended not to change the standard . what ever i have mentioned only solves the issue of displaying more than 20 characters.

This may create update problems , and also the whole text may not go to MM , because mapping should be changed in the XI system to incorporate the new length.

this mapping in XI , you can not change.

best would be to enquire with SAP wether they can provide any modification for your requirement , But i am not too sure wether SAP will make the change for your request.
