Is it because you are installing 32 bit oracle on 64 bit OS ?

Thanks

Former Member

I am thinking about it..

Could you please tell me more or link where i can get the documentation on upgrade from 32 bits to 64 bits.

you are installing from scratch? then, go get the 640bit installations package from http://service.sap.com/installations

Dear Expert,

Some one told me that, sap 32 bits is able to run in 64 bits hardware. Wish to know what is the configuration on this.

Please assist.

JC

Yes, you can install 32bit version on 64 bit, but you wont get the full capability of a 64 bit, perfromance wise.

To check whether you OS is 32bit or 64 bit

1. Click Start, click Run, type winmsd.exe, and then click OK.

2. In the details pane, locate Processor under Item. Note the value.

• If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with x86, the computer is running a 32-bit version of the Windows operating system.

• If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with EM64T or ia64, the computer is running a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.

Atleast Java verion 1.4.2_12 is recommended. You can use either of them 32 or 64 bit. Better to go with 64bit.
