Checking ADA db Database

Please check who is the owner for the oracle directory in /home dir.. and if it is not the root change it to root and similarly to the next sub directory client and not to any other directory below that.... and start the SAP.. it should work...
I had encountered the same problem and resolved by changing the owner for oracle and for client under the same directory,,,,

Kavitha, There could be many reasons for such an error. What i have found in my experience is that the error is related to an incorrect environment variable....
Also sometimes realted to Oracle Client software...
Please look into this SAPNote 403004 - Database connect using R3trans fails
