1) how to handle the control records in case of file to idoc scenario
Hi
it will be automatically populated u have to just map all the mandatory fields in the MM of the control record.
and u also have to select the check box "Take control record from payload".

As such there is no need as it is automatically done by XI.But if u want to map manually select the check box "Apply control record values"

For control records, you have to manually map the control record fields in message mapping (in IR). Normally the segement "EDI_DC40" in your idoc structure has control records. you ahve fill fields like "MANDT", "IDOCTYP", "MESTYP", "SNDPOR", "SNDPRT", "SNDPRN", "RCVPOR", "RCVPRT", "RCVPRN".
you can either fill these fields with constants or with some filed from your incoming payload. Whatever the case may be, if you are manually doing this mapping, in your receiver IDOC communication channel in ID you ahve to tick the following check boxes at the end of the CC:
Apply control record values from payload
Take sender from payload
Take receiver from payload
This would work fine then.

There is no need to handle anything. XI automatically handles that. Only if u want to map something manually, configurations like "Apply Control Record Values" are used

With the sender control record, you can influence the runtime behavior of the sender process.
Procedure
...
1. Start transaction merep_pd.
2. Choose the Runtime Component tab page.
3. Choose Display <-> Change.
4. Set Log Level to 2.
5. Set Maximum Bundle Size to 50.
6. Choose Save.
