SAP GUI Logon error Hostname unkown

Former Member

Hi,

My system connection parameters as below:

Application Server: 111.11.111.111

System Number: 00

System ID: ECP

When I tried to log on, I got the error message Hostname ''111.11.111.111" Unknow, detail information

Component: NI

Release: 710

Version: 39

Module: ninti.c

Line: 895

Method: NiPGetHostByName: ''111.11.111.111" not found

Return code: -2

System Call: getaddrinfo

Counter: 2

I can successfully ping the server and telnet it.

But I can log on the other client's system, which setting is the same except the application server server different.

Any idea about this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Had _similar_ problem

Appeared that SAPRouter string was case-sensitive and that after first incorrect input (small letters) the Logon substituted right (BIG letters) string with wrong.

Had to clear the list from the wrong Strings manually.

the file is in AppData folder.

Hi. Go to Windows\system32\drivers\etc

Open a file Hosts and add the name and Ip address like

111.11.111.111 servername. Also ask your Basis team may be your company use Message server.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

But it doesn't work. My other colleague can logon this server and their host file under etc folder is the same as mine.

And we also have the same firewall setting.

regards

Hi. Try to include trace files on fronted according Note 305363, also on your place i would include the logging mode on your firewall and read the logs. The OS is XP or VISTA ?

I'm have tried to write at myself obviously wrong name of a server

Error as at you write coming. Check your DNS settings and try to login with name of server instead of IP.

Also check the IP which you write, check up all dots (check is not commas ?) and units more closely.

Regards.

My problem ( facing with the same error message ; "unknown host name" ) was solved after I've changed my DNS settings (by selecting "obtain automatically" choice).

Thanks to all responders in this thread. I wanted to add my result.

Regards.
