Hi,

For all the changes happening at the DB level,it records all those changes in the REDO Log file,Normally Redo log file refers to the Online Redo logs which are currently active in the system. Once the redo logs get filled or by executing alter system switch log file it can generate Offline redo logs which are generally called as Archive Logs.

Archive logs are required to rebuild the system from the previous backups.

Normally in an SAP environment the Redo logs are located in

/oracle/<sid>/origlogA

/oracle/<sid>/origlogB

/oracle/<sid>/mirrlogA

/oracle/<sid>/mirrlogB

and offline logs can be found in

/oracle/<sid>/saparch.

Sam
