Basis monitoring for IPC

Former Member

I keep getting a problem with IPC. The services show as running, but the RFC connection in SM59 fails a connection test until you restart the IPC services on a windows box.

2 Questions

1. Is there a way to monitor the IPC connection. Not just if the J2EE is up, but if SRM can actually connect to the ipc.

2. Is there a way to script the IPC services so that If SRM cannot connect to IPC, then the service will restart?

Thanks

Jeremy Baker

Hi,

you could use report BBP_IPC_CHECK. Just enter your e-mail address and schedule the report in the background.

If the IPC is down you will get a mail.

There is also a function module COM_IPC_SESSION_BEGIN that you can run in SE37, that should show status in its field ev_session_id.

Can you schedule either as a background job?

Hi Jeremy,

the "standard" way to do this is to use the CCMS integration that we are providing for IPC. This e.g. includes a heartbeat that shows you if the IPC is really up or down. Your IPC documentation explains how to set up the IPC CCMS integration.
