jcontrol.exe process stopped on WebAS SP14 JAVA Sneak Preview:

Former Member

Hi,

I have now installed SP14 on my laptop sucessfully. When first installed and Server 0 & 1 started without issue (both green). However, the next day I start

Server 1 (with processes msg_server.EXE & enserver.EXE) are green, but Server 0 (with jcontrol.EXE) remains grey and stopped. The dispatcher is not running.

I have experienced jcontrol.exe stopping in the past when our sneak preview license has expired but I don't think this an issue with our new installation.

Our Developer Trace for jcontrol.exe includes the following error.

Thr 768] Tue Mar 11 10:53:31 2008

[Thr 768] *** ERROR => invalid return code of process [bootstrap] (exitcode = 66) [jstartxx.c 1642]

[Thr 768] JControlExecuteBootstrap: error executing bootstrap node [bootstrap] (rc = 66)

[Thr 768] JControlCloseProgram: started (exitcode = 66)

[Thr 768] JControlCloseProgram: good bye... (exitcode = 66)

I have read OSS note 997510 which suggests a problem with the connection to the database (MaxDB), yet I am able to logon to MaxDB within the console. Strangely however it does not seem to retain the logged status within the session.

e.g I click on the Blue Database icon within sapmmc and need to logon to database. If I click on the Server 0 or 1 and then return to the database, I am prompted to log on with my database control user again.

I've also tried upgrading my JDK from 1.4.2_09 to 1.4.2_12 as per OSS note 718901, but there was no change.

Here are the key logs from the D:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\work directory.

I've seen on other posts similar or same problems being experienced, but no answers as yet. Would really appreciate anyone's suggestions.

Regards

Adrian

Usually, this is an error regarding database connection. For some reason MaxDB does not start automatically when the OS starts, so you need to start it manually.

Check if the services are set to start automatically, if they don't then change their properties.

I have seen a similar situation when the database is Oracle, so it seems to be some strange behaviour from SAP installation .

Did you ever get resolution to this error? I'm getting the same thing now.

Hi,

It took me many goes before the Sneak Preview would install.

I think this might have been license expiry when the 90 day license expired.

If not but I remember the following problems:

  • Had to get an uncorrupted download. (An obvious one, but surprisingly difficult). I had to use a Download Manager several times before I got a download that worked.

  • Would not install on Vista

  • Would not install on a PC with dual boot to XP & Vista (Had to be XP only)

  • Had to install a Loopback Adapter (this might have been XP only)

Hello,

In this case we need try the following:

a) Uninstall the existing JDK, as certain java files might have been corrupted,

b) Shutdown the SAP WS via SAP MMC console,

c) re-install the JDK relevant version, like JSDK 1.4.2 for NW604s

d) Then start the SAP WAS service via MMC

Now you can find the JControl.exe up and running.
