hello, friend.
there are many scenarios where batch splits are applicable. some of them may be:
1. processed foods (where there is an expiration date-related policy)
2. durable goods with production batches/lots
3. trading goods sourced from different plants/suppliers
now, let's take the processed foods as an example. let's further say that you sell on a first-expiry, first-out basis. and your supply of this material is the following:
batch: TEST1, expiry date March 31, 2008, quantity 500 units
batch: TEST2, expiry date April 07, 2008, quantity 500 units
your order comes in and the quantity is 750. you enter this in your sales order. you decide not to determine batch in the sales order and determine it during delivery instead.
now, you create delivery. if automatic batch determination is activated, the system will determine your batches as follow (based on first-expiry, first-out):
batch TEST1, 500 units
batch TEST2, 250 units.
for this to occur, batch management must be configured in MM and SD. batch management can be activated on different levels (client, plant, etc...). you also must activate this in the item category for order and/or delivery. the material must also be enabled for batch management, and the proper batch characteristic assigned.
for specifics, you can consult the other threads (and there are many) on batch management.
regards.

Dear jatin
Batch split is used when the stockable items are in batches . For eg in the delivery of 100 there are two batches i.e. of 70 and 30 you need a batch split. and in case of return also you bned to recognise the batch for taking corrective action.
