Does SSHv2 (secure Telnet) work with the SAP console and does SAP support this?

Yes, you can secure the connection between your wireless devices and the server where your SAPConsole is installed by using a SSHv2 server. I assume here you want to use wireless devices running windows CE or Pocket PCs or Windows Mobile 5.0). You would have to install a SSHv2 client on each of the devices and a SSHv2 server software on the computer where the SAPConsole is installed. We use a complete solution including client and server software from [Georgia SoftWorks|http://www.georgiasoftworks.com/prod_ssh2/ssh2_server.htm]. We are very pleased with the performance we see and the peace of mind that our data is point-to-point encrypted using the strongest possible SSHv2 encryption. The solution is very easy to install, originally we were very worried about the nightmare of having to provide and maintain Private Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates but this product allows you to completely avoid this issue. Conceptually the system works sort of like a telnet-based solution but over a secured connection.

Hope this helps,

Rodney

Hi Maria,

Are you asking if SAPGUI sessions can run over SSH? That is possible (you can redirect ports over SSH if you need to) but have you looked into using SNC? Or are you asking about an SSH connection to the server console?

Thanks,

This would be for the SSH connection to the server console.

This will depend on your platform. If you want to get to a UNIX command line session over SSH then you can use putty to connect remotely. If you want to get to a Xwindows session on a UNIX box then something like Secured VNC would work. For windows servers you can connect using Remote Desktop.

SAP usually supports the programs that are already on the system (as determined by the install guides) so you may already have the 'supported' functionality installed.
