Hi everybody,
I have 2 MaxDB databases installed on 2 Servers:
AWD on a P5 LinuxOnPower 64bit
Release 7.5.0.039
TU1 on a IBM IA32 32bit
Release 7.5.0.049
I did a full data backup on AWD and tried to do a "Recovery with initialization" on TU1. But I always get the error
-24988 sql error [db_activate RECOVER "AWD_FULL_Online" DATA]; -9026, System error: BD BAd datapage, bad restart record.
I installed the latest SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB kernel and the latest SAP Patch MAXDB7500_49-10002901.SAR on TU1 but this did not change anything.
Can anyone tell me why this error occurs and how I can fix this problem?
There is also something strange:
On AWD the "DB Client Lib" has the version SAPDB 7.5.0.039 but in TU1 SAP tells me that the version of this lib is SAPDB 7.4.3.050.
Could this be the problem? How can I update this library?
Regards
Christian
This does not work.
Linux on PPC is a BE (big endian) platform whereas Linux on x86 is a LE (little endian) platform, backup/restore can't be used for system copy.
You can check that by using the command
file /sapdb/<SID>/db/pgm/kernel
This will give "MSB" for the PPC64 and "LSB" for the x86 machine.
You will need to use R3load to unload and re-load on the new machine.

Hi Christiane,
thanks for your answer.
"Heterogenous system copy" thats the right keyword. With this (and with your note numbers) I think i will be able to find the neccessary information.

Hi Markus,
that's right! BE and LE - this cannot work the easy way
So does you or anyone else can tell me where I can get more information about how to use R3load? I never used it before. A step by step instruction would be very usefull for me.

Hi Christian,
there are a lot of notes about heterogenous system copie of an SAP System.
You should start with FAQ Note 1014782 about system copy which includes a lot of references to other notes to get the information which is needed.
Note 941635 gives additinoal information for MaxDB 7.6
Regards, Christiane Hienger
The guide for doing this is on
http://service.sap.com/systemcopy
"Mix in" the mentioned notes and it should be straightforward.
