is this scenario possible or do I have to split it into two different interfaces:
1. FTP ->NFS
2.XML file -> IDoc.

File to Idoc is allways a piece of cake,
the issue was whether the scenario can be performed from an "out-of-SLD" FTP server
to back-end system IDoc.

I don't know why you are not taking directly from FTP! If you want to transfer from FTP to NFS and NFS to IDOC. Then you need two different scenarios.

Refer file to file scenario on receiver side configure it as NFS
