Hello,
I have a problem when starting a gui session, the following message is displayed:
SAP System message:
Error when generating text environment.
I made some modifications before this error raises:
1. Made a system copy.
2. Modified the parameter zcsa/system_language and zcsa/second_language to "P" (Brazilian Portuguese) and "E".
3. Run APYR3FIX to update DW, LIB_DBSL, R3TRANS and TP in kernel lib.
After starting the instance, when I try to logging on, this message is displayed. No logon screen is displayed for me.
Thanks for all help.

Hi Andre,
I think, it is pretty easy and ugly:
You are using a new kernel and then you should have a look at http://www.4soi.de/locales and check the notes ...
I created a ZIP file with the needed locales and that worked fine. As a bad workaround you could change the entry OS400 for your language in TCP0C as well ...
(the locale would be needed to be changed to the english one)

Hi Volker,
I made some tests and could certify that my kernel patch 123 which is running on QAS in the same box isn't affected by the most recent patch level (149).
I did all the steps accordingly to OSS note 1077496, applied patches for LOCALES, R3INLPGM, SAPSTART and DW, plus LIB_DBSL, R3TRANS and TP.
But I can't start a sapgui session if using "P" as system_language, as I have configured on QA system.
I've opened an OSS ticket and they suggested note 1037947. But running TCODE I18N results in a known issue, it says that I must correct locales de_DE.ISO8859-1 and pt_PT.ISO8859-1 on application server.
I think that the "best" solution for my case is applying an older kernel patch (123) as I have on QAS and PRD, until media from IBM containing these additional locales don't arrive.
Can you another advice?
Thank you, ever n' ever!
Regards,
André
Hi Andre,
I would say: Yes, it is the best to use the good kernel 123 - and hope, that the locales will arrive via IBM ....
Otherwise, you could install them manually from my ZIP file or change PT to EN locale (you could copy this one as well).
(the places are described in that note)

Hi Andre,
I sent the locales to you via mail.
You should unpack on the 2 x 2 ones needed. I would place them "illegally" to the directory /usr/lib/nls/loc .
Otherwise the correct way would be to place them to /QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/OS400/PASE/MRI-Language-Code/loc and then link it to /usr/lib/nls/loc .

SAP consultant answered my question saying that now SAP will use IBM locales, then, it's necessary to have all additional locales on i5/OS.
Tip for brazilian users: PT language which is configured in an SAP system did not correspond to 2980 "pt_BR" locale that IBM sents an additional CD, it's necessary to install additional language 2922 (Portuguese) on LICPGM (option 21).
But I still have a question, and how about "de_DE"?
Regards,
André
Hi Andre,
Have you installed the language Brazil from Tcode SMLT?
If not, switch the parameters back, and install the language first.
Best regards,
Victor
