Rename Material.

There are some 30 material which has stock in respective plants (100).

now if we want to change the material code ( material name), can we change it?

if yes, how ?

if we change the material code, what would be the effect in plant stock?

you can not change MATERIAL CODE (numerical) but you can change the name of material (Description)

Go to MM02 select the material and basic view here you can change the material name

there will be no effect in plant stock as you are changing the name and not the quanity. but when you will check stock for the material the description will be the new which you have given.

Material Description can be changed but not the Material No which is unique.If you want change then only possibliity is create new material with extension of previous and move the stock to new material.

Dear RMD

If you want to change the material code, say 123 to 456 no it is not possible once it is created.
