Hi Team,

Could you pls help me in finding out the patch level for Oracle 8i 64 bit - 8.1.7.2 in HP-UNIX and also would like to know whether SAP Still provides support for this Oracle version..

When I look in Marketplace under database patches...Oracle 8i version is listed but upto 8.1.7.3 and our version is not listed..

What can we do in this regd other than upgrade or any ways to install the pathces from SAP..

Regds,

Satyanarayana N.

Hi

To check the patch level, follow the below steps

01. Login as ora<SID>

02. cd /oracle/SID/<version>/OPatch

Execute the following command

03. opatch lsinventory

The above will list all the patches there were installed.

Upgrade is the only solution for your another question.

Award me points if it is useful.

Thanks & Regards

Babu

Hi,

opatch is only available from 9i.

In oracle 8i there was no "patch control".

If you do not keep track of the patches installed, then you have a little problem, as you can install a patch and overwrite a newer one and there is no warning whatsoever.

You can follow the note 411068 - Which Oracle patches/ patch sets are already installed? and use "owhat" to find out the installed patches.

Hi,

If you just need the Patch version and not the exact bug fix version...

You can just issue "sqlplus / " from the command line as oraSID then run:

select * from v$version;

Hello,

Somckit gave the query to find out the Oracle verson.

But, if you want to find out the patches then you have to follow the note 411068.

If you get nothing, could be because no individual patch is installed.

There are no other solutions to find out the patches.

Hi. As of note 592393 -->

Of the Oracle releases released by SAP, Oracle only supports 9.2 and 10.2. Oracle will provide free support for 9.2 up to 07/31/08. See Notes 1021844 and 1110995. Oracle 10g is supported by Oracle until July 7, 2010.

Regards.
