SAPGui 7.1 and Vista (No list of system on SAP Logon window)

Former Member

Hi,

I have installed SAP Gui 7.1 on my vista PC. Everything seems to be ok except I can't see any system lists on logon window. This makes me in trouble cause I can't logon to the system. I also copied the saplogon.ini to C:/windows and the problem still exists. My friend who use XP can now log on to the system.

Do I need to change the configuration file (i.e. saplogon.ini) to match with Vista? Please suggest.

Thanks

Hi Chutimon Satid-u-larn ,

Can you confirm that do you have permission to modify "saplogon.ini" file.

Hi,

did you used logon load balancing?

if yes in this case sapmsg.ini is also required.

if you did not used logon load balancing then try to create connection to SAP system from saplogon pad manually.

Hi Kaushal,

Actually I'm very new to SAP and I'm not quite sure whether I use logon load balancing or not. However, I tried search in my SAP folder and there is no sapmsg.ini. If I do need this file where can I get it from?

Thanks for your help

Hi

ask you basis guy or colleague for whether you used load balancing or not,

did you try to create connection for SAP system from logon pad

click on user defined in logon pad

Description : description of the system

application server : ip address of sap application server.

System ID : SID ( sap system id)

System number : XX ( instance number)

Hi Kaushal,

I'm a student and just enrolled in enterprise system course. I tried to create manual SAP connection from logon pad from the information in saplogon.ini. This is the only information that I have. But it seems like the information I entered is incorrect that's why I can't create the connection. Anyway, tomorrow my tutor will help me on this. But I just want to resolve the problem by myself first.

Thank you for your help

Hi. Can you manually add the servers on SAP GUI ?

If you not use load balancing :

In the left top corner on SAP GUI press a square --> options

You need to unselect the tab "Disable system edit function"

Then press "User Defined" --> And the system settings.

Regards.

Hi Sergo,

The "Disable system edit function" is currently unselected. And I can't manually add the server on SAP GUI cause I don't have that kind of information. Maybe vista is the problem here. Students in the class who use vista also face the problem the same as me but not for the one who use XP.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What happens when you try to add a server? You can show saplogon.ini file?

Hi,

in vista copy saplogon.ini to <drive:>\users\username\appdata\local\virtualstore\windows

where username is user id for windows vista

appdata folder is hidden in vista change the folder options and check view hidden files and folder.
