What specifically does Low Speed Connection change

Hi,

I'm trying to trouble shoot a connection issue.

When I try connect to a systems via SAPRouters, I'm not connecting. I have setup a NIPing test through the same routers to the SAP Systems and it works ok.

If enable the Low Speed Connection setting, I get the logon screen. I'm not able to get any further.

So what does the Low Speed Connection setting do, that would enable me to get the logon screen. Does it effect packet sizes etc? If I know that, I may have a better idea on what to look for on firewalls and routers between both points.
