Ours is NW 7.0 ABP SYSTEM. AIX 5.3 - Oracle 10.2.0.2.0
Normmaly we upgrade kernel Periodically with the following files
DBATL700O10_XXX-20000979.SAR
SAPEXEDB_XXX-20000979.SAR
SAPEXE_XXX-20000978.SAR
But we will also fnd latest version of
dw_XXX-20000978.sar
To have the latest Kernel we are replacing regularly
the following files
dw_XXX-20000978.sar
enserver_XXX-20000978.sar
R3trans_XXX-20000978.SAR
tp_XXX-20000978.sar
Are they enough ? do we need to consider any other SAR file for regular Kernel Upgrade?
Please confirm
Rgds
Actually we do periodic only by SAPEXE* SAEXEDB* and DBATOOLS*.SAR files
For Example
For NW 2004s The
LATEST SAPEXE* version available is
SAPEXE_133-20000978.SAR
which deliver dw+work.exe of patch level 133.
No other Latest SAPEXE* is available
But dw_149-20000978.sar is also which delivers patch level 149.
my Early Watch also demand to up grade to the latest Kernel.
if replacing
dw_XXX-20000978.sar
enserver_XXX-20000978.sar
R3trans_XXX-20000978.SAR
tp_XXX-20000978.sar
only these files is not righ t way -
Why EARLYEATCH suggest for latest patch level of KERNEL even though no other SAPEXE of 149 version is available.
Please suggest

Hi
If you click on the 'info' link against the particular sar file eg dw_149-20001020.sar, you will find a list of all the bugfixes after Kernel 133.
So, there could be a bugfix for an issue which you may be facing and EarlyWatch had suggested so. There is no harm in applying them.

Hi
Thats not a good practice and replacing tp, r3tans, dw and enq files is not enough.
You need to uncar both SAPEXE.SAR SAPEXEDB.SAR files for better performance and bugfixes.
You can replace tp, r3tans, dw and enq files only if there are any bugfixes for SAPEXE.SAR SAPEXEDB.SAR.
