If you are in SCM 5.0, you could use the file upload functionality in the interactive demand planning screen and upload the sales history data to the keyfigure. But, to make sure you have the right file format, manually enter some data at the right level and take a download of the data into an excel file with the option "Prepare file for upload at a later time". Once you have the format, you can copy sales history data to this file and upload the same file using the "Upload local file to interactive planning" functionality. This will help you to upload only maybe test data or few records, but cannot be used for loading lot of data.

your challenge will be to make sure that the CVCs for the data you want to load from the excel sheets exists

So use the excel sheet to ensure you have CVCs created for the

And then use the download of data option (in 5.0) to get the template

Fill in the template with the data from your masterdata

Load this back to the planning area

if you are going to do this on a regular basis you should also be able to use BAPIS to load data to planning books. please check for this option.

Hi,

The process of creating a cube in the APO BW and loading the data into the planning area can be found in the below link

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm2007/helpdata/en/13/5ada58309111d398250000e8a49608/content.htm

Importing Data into Planning Areas

There are basically two methods of importing data.

● If you want have permanent access to the data

When you assign key figures to the planning area, you enter the InfoCube from which the key figure is taken. This forms a permanent link between the InfoCube and the planning area.

● If you only want to copy data occasionally from an InfoCube to the planning area

You use the function Loading Data from an InfoCube into a Planning Area. A similar function is Copy Management, which allows you to copy between planning areas and versions.

And also that the data mart setup process consists of the creation of InfoCubes in SAP SCM and the loading of actual and/or planned data. Actual data can be used as input for time series forecasting and causal analysis, or for a comparison of the demand plan with actual demand. Planned data could consist of forecasts submitted by individuals or departments, such as product line forecasts from sales representatives.

Raj,

To load data into APO, you have to go through the whole BW process of creating an infocube, infosource, infopackage, infoobjects and the like. Then you have to load the values from your excel sheet to your infocube. Once the historical values are loaded into the infocube,it can be made available for APO. To learn this process, you can check out the Best Practices for Demand PLanning.
