Hi,

As far as my knowledge is concerned...Trillium is a data enrichment tool which only identifies the duplicates and gives scores to know the seriousness of the duplicate using some strategies. But u cannot merge the duplicates in trillium. We can only find the duplicates.

where as in MDM u can find the duplicates as well as Merge them.u can run strategies and give scores to the duplicates which shows the seriousness of the duplicates and can be merged. Thus we can have a deduplicated data.

Zoomix can unite the data from multiple sources. It can auto classify records into any taxonomy. It can deliver in-line data assurance services to all applications.Automatic, self-learning system

No profiling, scripting or rule development required

Integrates into existing business workflows and applications

Processes all types of corporate data, including complex customer, product and financial data .

hope this information is useful to u.

@Debora Amigoni:

I know this question has been marked as answered, but one question Iu2019d like to ask is how you arrived at this list of vendors, because it is quite a mix. There are probably 60+ vendors covering various aspects of the MDM space (not including pure data quality vendors), and youu2019ve picked a diverse mix of data quality, PIM, SIM, and MDM vendors.

If your focus is purely on data quality with regard to SAP MDM, you should probably narrow your focus to those types of tools. However, if your focus is on data governance where data stewards need to manually intervene and correct data via the web, you were right to look at Kalido MDM.

In her response, @Nisha Lalwani appears to have confused the Kalido MDM tool with the Kalido DIW tool (and even then, got a lot wrong). Kalido MDM has nothing to do with data warehousing other than the fact that the cleansed and harmonized master data from MDM often ends up in a downstream data warehouse (as one target of many). Kalido MDM has its own database instance separate from any data warehouse, and there are customers that have purchased Kalido MDM without owning the data warehouse product (and use it with other data warehouse technologies like Teradata and SAP BW).

The core strength of Kalido MDM is when you are facing a lot of invalid master data, require human interaction to fix it, especially if you have very complex business models or ones that change a lot. Kalido emphasizes the following about their product:

1) Subject Independent application - Manages all master data types from product and customer to finance and organization via a web-based interface. This differs from CDI / PIM / SIM solutions that are hardcoded to one subject area. For example, you mentioned Zycus which is hardcoded to support Supplier Management / Spend Analysis.

2) Business-model - Drives data management processes including loading, validation and workflow without the need for coding. A Kalido business model is saved as metadata that drives the entire application.

3) Generic master data store - A flexible, consolidated, time-variant and searchable repository of master data.

4) Workflow engine - Controls the collaborative ownership, creation, enhancement, authorization and maintenance of master data by both business and IT people. Built in workflow is a major differentiator given that many MDM solutions do not have built-in workflow or require manual (and usually expensive) integration with third-party workflow products.

5) Validation engine - Automates validation of work in progress data to ensure the publication of consistent, authorized data for BI use.

By the way, Kalido makes their business modeling component available as a free download, so if you want to try it out, you can get it here:

http://www.kalido.com/business-modeling-community.htm

There is also a Google Group where users can share non-proprietary business models. For tutorials on how to get started, I would visit:

http://www.kalido.com/Collateral/Media/English-US/BIM-Tutorial-5/player.html

Good luck!

Stephen

The data cleansing requirement will take place, while move the data from legacy system to new target ERP / system. I.e. need to cleanse, enrich, de-duplicate, & standardize.

The existing data may not have consistent format since it is often being derived from various sources. It may contain duplicate information as well missing or incomplete information. Cleanse and normalize content to achieve accuracy, consistency and proper understanding of the data.

Also it’s a process of organizing the data, which will ensure enrichment of your data which are up-to-date, accurate, and complete. These processes are manual / labor intensive and require a fair bit of specialization.

If you need to have more details please feel free to interact with us as per below.

We are comfortable to support you on with web based master data tool.

Thanks

Kumar

Hi All,

The best solution for harmonizing, storing and managing master data over time, to my opinion, would be SAP MDM + enrichment of data using MDM enrichment controller. Enrichment could be achieved with Trillium too, but other options could be considered depending on the geography and the object type. Business Object acquired latey by SAP, is noteworthy.

BTW: You are both right about Trillium, they have 2 different tools which are integrated to each others to some degree: data profiling and data enrichment.

Hi,

Kalido MDM :

Master (reference) data management is thought as a special form of data warehouse federation(A ‘federated data warehouse’ consists of a set of data warehouse instances that operate semi-autonomously, are generally geographically or organizationally disparate, but which can be thought of as one large data warehouse).

However, experience shows that such systems are complex to manage and that, over time, the absence of a common warehouse (a single common source of master data) leads to inconsistency and frequent errors in transactional data.

Furthermore, such systems generally do not easily lend themselves to being rapidly adapted to new business requirements since they are often dependent upon writing low-level code to effect the revisions.

The high level architecture for a federated set of data warehouses with integrated data, based on maintenance of master data using a Master Data Warehouse, which supplies

master data to both the data warehouse federation and the underlying source systems.

It is important to note here that the Master Data Warehouse is in effect an operational system since it manages all master data flowing through the organization.

This demands effective processes and procedures for management and ownership of master data.

SAP MDM

Companies striving to accelerate business growth and improve business performance need to innovate and remain flexible to dynamic market forces. NetWeaver provides the ideal platform for enabling such innovation and flexibility. Satyam’s NetWeaver Practice provides a host of solutions based on the primary user interface (EP) framework, the primary integration engine (XI), the primary data management tool (MDM), and the business process orchestration tool that enable customers to:

Design, build, and implement new business processes

Knit together disparate processes and systems

Develop a unified view of information from every facet of the organization, and deliver it to stakeholders when and how they need it through a dedicated NetWeaver Center of Excellence

SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) enables master data on customers, partners and products to be consolidated and harmonized across the enterprise, making it available to all staff and business partners. A key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity across all IT systems.

The SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) component of SAP NetWeaver creates the preconditions for enterprise services and business process management. The functionality represents customers, products, employees, vendors, and user-defined data objects in unified form. With SAP NetWeaver MDM, customers can manage master data and supplemental content, such as texts, PDF documents, high-resolution images, or diagrams in a central business information warehouse.

SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) is a component of SAP's NetWeaver product group and is used as a platform to consolidate, cleanse and synchronise a single version of the truth for master data within a heterogeneous application landscape. It has the ability to distribute internally and externally to SAP and non-SAP applications. SAP MDM is a key enabler of SAP Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture. Standard system architecture would consist of a single central MDM server connected to client systems through SAP Exchange Infrastructure using XML documents, although connectivity without SAP XI can also be achieved. There are five standard implementation scenarios:

Content Consolidation - centralised cleansing, de-duplication and consolidation, enabling key mapping and consolidated group reporting in SAP BI. No re-distribution of cleansed data.

Master Data Harmonisation - as for Content Consolidation, plus re-distribution of cleansed, consolidated master data.

Central Master Data Management - as for Master Data Harmonisation, but all master data is maintained in the central MDM system. No maintenance of master data occurs in the connected client systems.

Rich Product Content Management - Catalogue management and publishing. Uses elements of Content Consolidation to centrally store rich content (images, PDF files, video, sound etc.) together with standard content in order to produce product catalogues (web or print). Has standard adapters to export content to DTP packages.

Global Data Synchronization - provides consistent trade item information exchange with retailers through data hubs (e.g. 1SYNC) Some features (for example, workflow) require custom development out of the box to provide screens for end users to use.

Trillium :

It is basically used for Data profiling. It can be used for data enhancements with certain address masters and other masters avaialble in the box. There is a lot of data quality analysis can be done in Trillium

Advantages of Zoomix :

1.Fast, accurate, automated, self-learning system :

2.No scripting or rule development required – Zoomix Accelerator never requires the development of scripts or the manual definition or maintenance of data processing rules. The system automatically interprets data to learn the optimal matching, normalization and classification required for any data domain.

3.Processes all types of complex corporate data – Zoomix Accelerator works equally well with product data, customer data, supplier data, financial data, etc. – in any language or combination of languages.

4.Rapid integration into existing applications and business workflows – The system's integration with daily user workflow provides objective, on-the-fly data correction. Erroneous, duplicated and incorrectly categorized data are repaired immediately, without disrupting routine business functions.
