Hi

if u want to use the FTP server then u have to install a FTP server on ur local machine.

you can use the same FTP server as a sender as well as the receiver.

Thanks

In Addition to rinku, you need to create sender and receiver communication channel for that FTP servers. amd also the source and target filename. Also check out that if you have Read, write and execute permissions (Authorizations).

Hi All,

Hi,

If your sender and receiver FTP's are same then you need to install only one FTP server if it is already not installed. Otherwise you need to install both and also open the port for FTP request and response.

Hi Aashish,

Since my Sender File System and Receiver File System are different:

1. I will install FTP Server A on Sender File System.

2. I will install FTP Server B on Receiver File System.

3. I will open the port for FTP request -- Port 21

4. I will open the port for FTP response -- Port 21

5. I will provide all authrozaitions

Pls let me know if anything missing

Hi Rider,

a. to install FTP server on Sender File System ? - Yes, create a user for this ftp, then you will use this user in the sender file communication channel in XI system.

b. to install FTP server on Receiver File System ? - Yes, create a user for this ftp, then you will use this user in the receiver file communication channel in XI system.

All 5 steps are correct. However, if u have firewall across the systems then u have to open the firewall port also for this communcation.

Hi

I think you just need to check that if FTP port doen't come behind any firewall.

You can also refer to this link.. http://www.chaminade.org/MIS/Articles/FirewallPortSecurity.htm

Hi Rider,

there is no firewall port.......basically firewall is a setting which decides whether your port is open or not........so for FTP you will have port 21 and just ask the network guys to open this port's firewall settings of both FTP servers for your XI system.
