Hi

I am new to XI, Need some info, Can anyone give info on the following,

1.Difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0

2. What is the service pack uses in PI 7.0

3. Give idea about SXMB_ADM,

- There is no difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0. Since I worked with development team , I know it. Basically What happens, PI is the codeline copy of XI. If they release Service Pack 19 for XI 3.0, there will be release for PI 7.0 Service Pack 10. Both SP 19 & SPs 10 will be the same code.

- The reason to have this is because to give the 2004s(Standardized version) to the customers.

- The XI 3.0 is based on WebAS(Web Application Server) 640, where as PI 7.0 is based in WebAS 700.

- Service Packs. Each Service pack corresponds to the newly added functionality - Patches corresponds to the fix for the previous releases SP's.

- XI 3.0 Development is freezed, there are no more developments for XI 3.0 , SP 21 is the last SP.

- PI 7.0 latest SP is 14

@ Swarup : It's not SP 12 , it's SP14.

hi,

i m new to sap and pls refer some books and links to know concepts very clearly with good examples in SAP PI 7.0.

i dont know how to post the questions so any one pls giv me a steps to post the questions.

Hi,

1.Difference between XI 3.0 and PI 7.0

---> As such practically there is not much difference between the features of XI and PI 7.0

XI 3.0 resides on Netweaver 2004 releases and PI 7.0 is on Netweaver 2004s . For each SP of XI 3.0 a similar release is being made in 2004s too.

In order to bring all Netweaver releases in line with each other, SAP has released XI as Process Integration.

XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004

PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's

2. The ABAP stack (which is 7.0 and not 6.40) but from the developer point of view there is nothing new.

3. PI 7.0 = XI 7.0

For each SP in XI3.0 there is a corresponding SP being released for PI (XI 7.0). A comparison of the service packs in 2004 and 2004s:

In 2004 - In 2004s

SP12 & lower = SP04

SP13 + 14 = SP05

SP15 = SP06

SP16 = SP07

SP17 = SP08

SP18 = SP09

Currently XI3.0 is with latest SP 21 and PI 7.0 is with SP 12.

3. Give idea about SXMB_ADM,

---> SXMB_ADM is used for various settings for the Integration Engine. It will be for setting the Trace levels for monitoring, Time out seesions etc.

For your First question answer is..

All new features for XI 7.0 are almost same as for XI 3.0 at least till SPS 19.

Some differences are as follows:

• Adapter Enhancements like JMS, JDBC, Oracle-JDBC and CIDX Enhancements

• New Conversion Agent,

• Receiver Determination Enhancements

• Multi mapping

• User defined enhancements

• Unbounded Processes (Integration Processes).
