Monitoring Concepts in XI:

Message Monitoring

Perofmrance Monitoring

End-End Moniotoring.

Each has specific purpose of usuage in situation. Search in SDN for more details if i have to put it will be too lenghty and boring to read.

URL and URI:

The idea is that a URL is a mechanical link to a resource's location, where it can be downloaded. For this reason, a URL contains a hostname and a local part, all of which can be resolved anywhere on the Internet.

What a URN tries to do is different. It tries to give a description of a resource without actually pointing at it. For example:

urn:isbn:90-365-17273

This is the URN for my PhD thesis, but it does not give you a clue where you could get it. The idea is that you need resolution software to come to that. The word isbn is a so-called URN-space, and it has been registered formally. There are also non-global URN spaces, they start with an x- prefix.

URI is merely the possibly overlapping union of strings that are a URL or a URN.

Message Formats in XI:

We have only XML as message format which gets processed

Hi,

URLs are typically entered into the address or location bar of a web browser. To the right is a standard Mozilla Firefox address entry. Address bars vary in appearance depending on the web browser displayed in.

A Uniform Resource Name (URN) is a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that uses the urn scheme, and does not imply availability of the identified resource. Both URNs (names) and URLs (locators) are URIs, and a particular URI may be a name and a locator at the same time.

Hi,

can any one Explain about the monitoring components?

Central monitoring:

The central monitoring of SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) offers you the option of executing various monitoring activities. Primarily, you use the Runtime Workbench, the central tool for accessing XI monitoring.

The Runtime Workbench gives you the option of navigating to the monitoring functions of the Integration Engine, as well as integration with the Computing Center Management System (CCMS), and the Process Monitoring Infrastructure (PMI) of SAP.

Features

Central XI monitoring offers you the following options:

Component monitoring

Message monitoring

End-to-end monitoring

Performance monitoring

Index administration

Alert configuration

Cache monitoring

The Runtime Workbench provides access to all these monitoring activities. You can also run component monitoring by using a special CCMS Alert Monitor, which monitors the individual XI components.

A URL (Uniform Resource Locator, previously Universal Resource Locator) - usually pronounced by sounding out each letter but, in some quarters, pronounced "Earl" - is the unique address for a file that is accessible on the Internet. A common way to get to a Web site is to enter the URL of its home page file in your Web browser's address line.
