Hi,
What are the main things to be taken care while transporting objects from development to production. Let me know some of the tasks from developers and basis point of view.
Thanks and Regards,
Anandh
Hi Anand,
let me tell about the Basis perspective.
They will configure the NWDI(netweaver development Infratsructure) for your landcape.in that they will define tracks and the software components and dependencies.
Then the developers release the software component which they need to transport then the basis guys will do the rest of the things.

Vijay,
Should we create separate business systems and logical system for productions environment, or even those thing will be automatically transported .
I believe only the Integration directory must be changed to point to the productions system environment. Correct me if i am wrong.

Anandh
Hi,
You can use one business system for target(DEV,TEST,PRD), but if you are using CMS for transporting object, or manual import/export object, you should modify transfer group to proper group after transporting object. it should not be changed automatically
If you are useing the same SLD then you can use the same Business systems and Logical systems But if you have the seperate SLDs then you have to manually create the Business systems.
You can define them as standalone system without any target system attached to it and later use CMS for transporting them to next level.

Hi,
Overview of Transition from Dev to QA in XI

For tranporting the business system u need to create the transport group. Ur Prod business system name will automatically been reflected.
Transport mechanism
1. Create Technical System and Business Systems for the QA system.
2. Create Transport Groups in the Business System.
3. Create Transport Targets in the Source Business SYstem.
Check the link for:

Thnx

The landscape could have:
1. Central SLD or 2. Multiple SLDs
In case of single central SLD, as a developer, nothing has to be taken care at IR. At ID u just need to ensure that before u import ID objects, the Production system details are maintained in SLD and the transport targets are maintained
In case of multiple SLDs, before transporting IR objects, the SWC should be properly created in target SLD and before import of ID objects, the Production system details are maintained in SLD and the transport targets are maintained

Prateek
