Hi everyone,
I have the sap gui 7.10 SP6 and when i choose the New abap Editor to edit a program it crashed. All is fine with the old one.
any hints??
thanks in advance
quentin
We had the same problem and SAP came back with the following solution
create a folder C:\TEMP on an affected workstation.
copy the file MsXml4.msi from the subfolder system of an installation
server to the affected workstations C:/TEMP folder.
open a command line (cmd.exe) and change to the C:\TEMP folder
run this command (all in one line):
%WINDIR%\System32\MsiExec.exe /i C:\TEMP\MsXml4.msi /qn /l*v C:
\TEMP\NwSapSetup_MsXml4.log ALLUSERS=2

Russel,
What if you are on MSXML 6.0 SP2...would this still apply? We are getting ABAP errors on about 10 PC's and I am unable to resolve this issue.
We are using SAP GUI 7.1 Patch 7 (testing Patch 10 or 11 don't work either)
Thanks for any input you can provide.

Mike,
Check out your Windows Updates. This is tied to MSXML4. I had a very similar issue, and removed an Windows Update patch, related to MS08-069: Description of the security update for XML Core Services 4.0: November 11, 2008, http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS08-069.mspx.
After this was removed, my ABAP editor capability was restored. Prior to that, I was getting a very similar set of errors that could only be found through debugging the interface. Otherwise, my SAP session would just hang. I tried numerous uninstalls and installs of SAP GUI 7.10 to all verisions between path 7 and 14, with no success.
Finally, removing that related Windows Update did the trick. I have ticket open with SAP (they recommended the uninstall and install approach with SAP GUI), so I am going to update them and hopefully they can create an OSS Note to help others out a little faster going forward.
That actual pacth removed is Security Update for MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430).
Thanks,
-Ross

A few other pieces of info.
I am running Windows XP, SP3. We keep our computers patched as Microsoft releases patches.
I reinstalled the Security Update for MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430), and the problem did not return.
So, removing that windows patch resolved the problem, and it appears that applying it again did not cause the problem to return, so it may have been an issue related to the install of that hotfix back in November of 08.
I think any abap-editor related issues could be suspect tied to MSXML services, particularly msxml 4.

The solution provided by Russell also worked for me!
You also can download the file here: [MSXML 4.0|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7F6C0CB4-7A5E-4790-A7CF-9E139E6819C0&displaylang=en]
Thanks Russel!

Hi Quentin,
I had a similar issue at an earlier release, but maybe it helps: Can you please check that your SapWorkDir contains the folder ab4_data!
And it just crashes without any message?
