Knowledge required to shift in EP

Can any body tell me what is the basic knowledge required for EP?

I have 1 year experience in Java & 1.5 yearrs in ABAP.

I want to shift myself into EP.

Is it a perfect platform for me?

-->maintain documents using knowledge management,

-->sap and non sap applns communicate

-->achieve workflow using GP(guided procedures)

-->role based authentication can be provided.

You can learn them just by using sdn.
