i have a doubt wat is technical and application adapters...which adapter come under these catogery????

hi,

Adapters are classified into 3 categories.

1)Technical adapters :file, jdbc, jms , SAPBC, SOAP, mail and marketplaces

Technical adapters provide low level connectivity

to the messaging system ,databases, file system etc.

2)Application adapters

SAP applications

SIEBEL , Oracle ,Poeplesoft Application

application adapters provide connectivity to vendor-specific application systems

3)Industry standard adapters.

these type of adapters provide connectivity to Industry specific systems as,,adapter only is not sufficient because these systems are span.semantic. SAP provides business package to this type of adapters.

Hi,

Technical adapters are used regardless of any applications to be integrate &

Application adapters are application specific adapters.

For e.g.

The XI Adapter in XI is used to exchanges messages with an Integration Engine using proxies. In addition the XI adapter is also used to exchange messages between SAP XI and PCK.

adaprteer can be categorized based on their functions:

application adapter provide conectivity to vendor-spacific application system

technical adapters provide the low level connectivity but tipically they are just a "gateway" to an application system.

inside application adapter you found:

SAP applications

siebel,oracle,PeopleSoft applications

these kind of adapters can connect to any application (XI ADAPTER)

inside technical adapter you found:

File

RDBMS(JDBC)

JMS

SOAP

MAIL

SMTP

MARKETPLACE

these kind of adapters can connect to specific application
