Solved: cProjects to CATS integration

Presently I am working on cProjects to CATS integration, but I am not been able to get work list for the resource being utilised in cProjects.

Does any one have the config doc / Implemantation guide for cProjects to CATS integration ????

Hi,

You have to check following,

1. Project in cProject is assigned to organization.

2. in project type choose time recording via CATS

3. Business partner is created using Hr sync person so that there is a link.

Don't you forget to release both projects: in cPro and PS?

I have gone through settings for CATS, there it is mentioned that Data entry profiles to be created for "Specific settings for CATS for service Providers", but there I am not finding Time settings, Person selection, etc. Instead it is available in "Specific settings for CATS classic" .

How Can I find all the setting you have mentioned for Service provider in Specific settings for CATS for Service provider ??

Oh! There is an error in the settings, excuse me please, quite forgot about it.

All settings do in "Specific settings for CATS classic".

I have created new Data entry profile in CATS classic as per your document.

But still I am not able to get the cprojects task in work list of timesheet.

Is any other settings am I missing ????

Did you:

1. Assign the role to the task in cProjects?

2. Release the task?

3. Maintained 105 infotype (User Name) correctly?

Are you using cProjects and CATS in the same server?

Tell which of the controlling methods you use:

● Task-based or Role-based

● Account assignment object: Internal order or WBS element

● Manual or automatic

I have assigned Role to Task in cProjects, Released the task and I am working woth developer ID for the person so, I suppose I do not need to maintain infotype 105 for the person.

Is there anything to do with Data entry profile ?? I have created new Data Entry profile in CATS classic, Do we actually need to maintain the same in CATS service provider??? But in Service provider I am not getting certain field like Time units and From Project assignments.

And cProjects and CATS are on the same server.

Please help.

OK, let's repeat.

<h5>Settings</h5>

1. Project Type in cProjects (Collaboration Projects --> Structure --> Define Project Types), fields:

<h6>Scenario. = A Accounting Integration in mySAP ERP

Type of Transfer = 1 As of “Flagged for Transfer / To Assign’Automatic

Time Recording for = Tasks

Time/Travel Expenses Rec. CATS/SRM/FIN = X</h6>

2. In the accounting system you made general settings:

Transaction Code: SPRO

IMG Menu: Collaboration Projects --> Connection to External Systems --> Accounting Integration --> Make General Settings

in "Accounting Integration using Cost Collector in mySAP ERP" field

<h6>Object Type = Single-Obj. Controlling on InternalOrders.</h6>

3. In the accounting system you defined controlling scenario, field:

<h6>Controlling Method = Internal Order (Structure Element, Manual)</h6>

4. Replicate Accounting-Relevant Characteristics?

transaction code DPR_FIN_GECCO_R3_REP.

We are using scenario Single-Obj. Controlling on WBS Elements & Multilevel Controlling (Structure Element, Automatic).

We created new Data Entry profile in CATS classic, not in CATS service provider. In the latter we didn't do anything.

<h5>Process</h5>

1. You create the project, define and schedule it, define resource needs, assign resources.

2. Did you create a quotation and how did you do this if yes?

3. You should change the status of the project to "Set to assign" and save project. As far as i can see after that the internal order should to be created?

As any the project and the internal order number should be connected.

4. You should create sales order and assign internal order. (It is necessary for resource related billing).

5. And now in the worklist confirmation-relevant objects should be displayed.

Is all correct?

Ouch! In Process i missed an important step!

Between step 3 and 4 must be another one: you should release the project!

The project, the first phase and the assigned tasks must be released. This is a prerequisite for time recording with CATS on cProject tasks!

Settings are as follws :

1. Project Type in cProjects (Collaboration Projects --> Structure --> Define Project Types),

Type of Transfer : Always Automatic when Saving.

Rest all the things in this field is as mentioned by you.

2. In the accounting system you made general settings:

Internal Order is created but the costing data in not getting displayed.

4. You should create sales order and assign internal order. (It is necessary for resource related billing).

I am not using this functionality

5. And now in the worklist confirmation-relevant objects should be displayed.

Still the task related to cProjects not populated in work list of CATS.

Do I need to make all the settings same as you ????

Hi Niraj,

Let me know if you are simulating this on IDES, and which version? IDES ECC6 has slighly different settings in Data Entry Profiles.

No I am simulating it on Client ECC6 server.

Simultaneously simulating it on IDEC server also, but theere also same problem...

May be give a glance to suitable Best Practies?

In Best Practices for Project Service Delivery & Engagement Management w/ Multi Level Controlling (CO) (D82) i found:

<h6>"The Customer Sales Order has been created and the Internal Order has been assigned as the account assignment object. This means that all costs/revenues on the Internal Order is used for Resource Related Billing of the Customer for the services performed by the service provider."</h6>

Unfortunately our CO and HR consultants are inaccessible at now so i can't ask them if the Sales Order is is necessary for resource related billing.

I have run the report with new CATS profile, with person no, and today's date and following is the output:

What does it indicate ??? And how to solve it ????

I have run the report as suggested in the link which Konstantine has suggested.

Feedback of the report is as follows:

5 items included in work list.

But I am still not able to see those items in work list.

I think you also have run that report.

Is there any different settings for Data Entry profile as suggesteed by you earlier???

I have checked SAP # Note 1129336 - CATS integration: Worklist.

I have run the report and following is the output :

NO RFC FOR ALE Found, only O.K, if the cProject is installed in the same system

5 items selected in worklist

1 items removed from worklist because of no accouting object found

If items are selected in worklist, why it is not being seen in Work list ?

Can anyone suggest ????

Hi,

I had also similar problem for cProjects & CATS integration.

Please check your data entry profile properly. While making time entry in CAT2, you need to select the task / project assigned to employee. Then only actual time will get posted into cProjects. Please let me know if you are getting the project details while making time entry. After time entry check the CATSDB table for time entry details.

Hi Niraj,

Please check your configuration in data entry profile for getting project details while making time entry.

In data entry profile of work list area select from project assignment. This will list project assigned to respective employee during time entry.

Project Description: CATSFIELDS-CPR_TEXT

Project Subobject: CATSFIELDS-CPR_OBJTEXT

Hi Vivek,

All these fields are visible in CAT2 transaction.

Field selection : Influencing Field, for the the Worklist and Data entry section for data entry profile, fields you have mentioned are selected as "Display" mode in customizing. Other fields are in either "Input" or " Hide" mode.

Is that correct ???

Hi Niraj,

If you have maintained all the configuration properly, then actual time should transfered to cProjects after running report in SE38.

I will suggest debug the report in SE38 with your ABAPer so that actual issue can be identfied.

Before sending actual time items must be shown in Work List.

But Niraj don't see them. So Niraj can't record any time!

Or I've missed something?

Hi,

You can make time entry against internal order created from cProjects. Afterwards you need to run the report in se38 DPR_CATS_CPR_TRANSF to post time from CATS into cProjects.

In se38, you can debug the programe.

Time recording for project definition Ticked

Time /Travel expenses Rec.CATS/SRM/FIN Ticked

I tried to book the time against Internal order manually in CAT2 transaction but the data transfer to CO in CAT7 transaction is also not happening.

I think there is some issue with accounting integration.

If it is so, will this lead to work list not getting populated with task in CAT2 ??

What are the settings for activity type and cost element /cost element category in Cost and Activity type assignment ???

I have come to one SAP Note # 913347 - CATS integration with cPro without ALE scenario

It says that :

Symptom

CATS cannot be integrated with cProjects in non-distributed scenarios.

Reason and Prerequisites

You are using the integration of CATS with cProjects. cProjects and CATS are not distributed, but run on the same instance. You can therefore not set up the ALE scenario.

Is there anything to do with my problem ???

Can you please tell me what is distributed scenario and Non-distributed Scenario ???

Hi Niraj,

When CATS and cProjects are lie in different systems, then you consider it as a distributed scenario.

For e.g you are using cProjects 4.0 and your base components are in 4.6C. In this case, both components will be on separate servers.

In case of non-distributed scenario, cProjects as well as base coomponents are on the same system. For e.g ECC6.

I think Settings for CATS file will solve my problem. I was not able to get project ID for the person in work list through Data entry profile which I think I would be able to do after maintaining settings mentioned in the document.....
