Openess of Web Dynpro for Java

Trying to better understand the end run time envirnonment of UI's developed with Web Dynpro for Java to communitate to the non SAP folks who believe it is a proprietary world.

Is the end result of development in Java Dynpro - standard Java code that could execute anywhere? Have read the details around it being a MVC design model and all the benefits etc. Just looking for the positive arguments that allow me to state it is all standard Java code in the end.

Thanks

A WD Java application in the end is an EAR file that is deployed onto the NetWeaver application server and runs inside the WD Java runtime framework. The WD runtime is part of the NetWeaver app-server.

Thanks Armin. I guess it will be a runtime environment we will have regardless once we upgrade to the SAP 6.0 environment.
