Hola!

If you're about to move from Oracle to MaxDB: great idea!

BUT - please - read note [1007129 FAQ: DB migration with MaxDB as target|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_bc_db/~form/handler%7b5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d31303037313239%7d]

before.

Oracle and MaxDB have many things in common, but also differ on central concepts.

Thus most DBAs, Developers and System Designers have assumptions about MaxDB that have their origin on the Oracle platform and won't hold true.

To avoid this kind of misconception and to re-tune your Oracle-System to MaxDB, SAP offers a service (see the note for details).

As part of this service you will get onsite consulting, training and your most important queries tuned.

Having worked on enough messages, where customers complained about the bad MaxDB performance, directly after migration, I can only recommed to buy this service.

It will prevent go-live performance troubles beforehand.

Ok, enough marketing

Just go for this service and be happy

Heterogeneous BW/BI system copies are a bit different than "normal" systemcopies.

First, be aware of the fact, that you need a certified migration consultant on-site if the system to be migrated is a production system, otherwise you will loose support for the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration).

Apart from that, check note 885441 - Common Migration Errors. You will need to make sure you

- delete the temporary BW views/tables

- execute SMIGR_CREATE_DDL before the migration

(both points are covered in the system copy guide and above note).

Hi,

i think it is hetrogeneous system copy because DB is different ( DB Migration is another term for a heterogeneous system copy)

download the system copy guide from

http://service.sap.com/systemcopy.
