Hi All

I am a abaper and very new to MDM . I want to know as an abaper which are the areas I can work on in MDM.

I also want to know what MDM can be used for .

Heii Sudheendra,

MDM basically works with Master data object of a business.

like customer,material.

MDM works basically for Deduplication for more Information you can refer to help.sap.com -The Bible of SAP-MDM.

As an Abaper it's very good to join MDM It will help you know the Environment and functionality as well.

hi,

I am also an abaper.So in ABAP view i am trying to explain about MDM.

MDM is mainly used for Master DAta Management (Not for Transactional Data).

Its a tool having:

Console:-> used to create repository( group of Tables)

Import Manger-> used to import the legacy data in to the repository ( like uploading data into the SAP tables using BDC)

Data Manager:->Managing the data in the repository( deleting duplicate data, merge the same data, consolidation, Normalization).

Syndication:-> Sending or exchanging the repository( group of tables) data to the other system (legasy system).

WorkFlow:-> Assigning or authoring the work to different people.

Publication:-> Like SAPscripts.

For you MDM ABAP APIs are best thing to be practice as you are an abaper. With the help of MDM ABAP APIs you can easily learn and enhance your MDM skills.

MDM(Master Data Management) is used to:

1. Consolidate master data from external system

2. Master data can also be created with in MDM.

3. Full harmonization scenario means importing data from external systems and after cleansing, sending it back to required sytems.

Core MDM scenarios are:

a) Consolidating

b) Harmonization

c) Central Master data management

d) Rich product content management
