PR assigned to the Sales Order

Hi All

We can assign PR to a sales order by assigning network to the Sales Order..

but my question is how and in which case we do this??

how the planned cost get updated in the Sales Order?? and what are the customization settings required for the same??.... I highly appreciate if anyone can explain me about this whole procedure..
