Hello gurus,
I have a big question.
We planning convert our codepage from EBCDIC to ASCII in our DB server
(iseries OS/400 V5R4M0 kernel 46D_EXT 64 bit)
After this conversion, we planning install 4 applications server with
windows O.S. (Win 2003 server 64 bit) in our system with DB in iSeries OS/400 ASCII.
But i see the OSS notes 814834 and 156557, and this notes say that SAP only support kernel 46D_EXT 32 bit for Windows Server 2003 64 bit,
My question is: is possible a system landscape with kernel 46D_EXT 64 bit in DB server (iseries) and kernel 46D_EXT 32 bit in application servers (windows) ????
Best Regards,
Ernesto Castro.
Hi Ernesto,
yes, it is possible and supported to run 64 bit on 4.6C on iSeries and 32 Bit on Windows ...
BUT:
Please contact us because of this setup - this is very complicated and performs rarely only (unfortunately). Therefore, we would like to discuss the reasons for the Win Appl servers with you ....

Hi Ernesto,
ok, but you should know, that the performance is typically pretty bad in these kind of environments. I would suggest, that you contact us before you buy the hardware.
