Hello,
i've got a problem with my J2EE Engine kernel.
I installed the latest SP-Stack 14 with all components for my J2EE-Engine,Portal&KM&COLL and TREX over SAPinst.
The deployment was successful. When I check the versions
in my portal it shows:
J2EE Engine 6.40 PatchLevel 98256.313
Portal 6.0.14.0.0
KnowledgeManagementCollaboration 6.0.14.0.0 (NW04 SPS14)
But if i open the visual administrator and connect to the J2EE engine I've got the warning:
J2EE Engine kernel is older than the version of the visual administrator
J2EE Engine kernel version SP09
visual Administrator version SP14
I thought with the SP-Stack i've patched the kernel also.
Does anybody know this problem?
Hi Fischer,
We have also faced the same problem. We upgraded rom sR1 to SP15.
what kind of installation is it. stand alone or addin?
Also, in the system info page on j2ee engine page, it shows SR1 for some component

Hi Vineet,
it is a stand alone installation.
The system info on j2ee engine page shows also some SP09 components:
SAP_JTECHS 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045630) SAP AG 20041122132741
SAP-JEE 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045409) SAP AG 20041122132741
SAP-JEECOR 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045253) SAP AG 20041122132733
SAP_JTECHF 6.40 SP9 (1000.6.40.9.0.20041119045516) SAP AG 20041122132734

Hi All,
same problem here also.
The replacement of Jars is working also.
But when i see the verion info in
system administration->support->version, its not showing me any installation of KMC..I have installed KMC SR1 before applying these SP14 patches.
What can be the problem?
Also according to note 884678 , when tried installing the patch 6 of oracle, i am not getting any option to install only the JDBC thin driver.
Please help me out..
Regards,
sandip
Hi Mario,
As per the info from sysinfo page, the j2ee engine cor itself is not updated.
We can further see into the issue if you can send me the installation log file.
If you are on windows, it is under C:\program files\sapinst_instdir
Please find the folder and send it to us.
Please also let us know the platform on which SAP is installed OS and db
Also let us know from which sp to which sp are you updating.
please let us know from where did you download the SP14 engine files with there names
vineet.bothra@sap.com

Hi
I guess the problem in your case could be that when you try to connect to SP14 engine using SP14 Visual Admin, the default connection settings in VA is connecting to SP9 engine instead. (I am just assuming so)
You can just give a try to create a new connection settings to the SP14 engine in Visual Admin the following way and make use of that.
1. Run Visual Administrator
2. In the 'Connect to SAP J2EE Engine' window, click 'New' and a window will pop-up
3. Enter a valid display name and select "Direct Connection to Dispatcher Node"
4. Enter the P4 Port (for 640, 50004) of the SP14 engine and save the settings
5. Use these settings to connect to your server from within VA
I hope this will solve your problem.
Thanks and Regards
Madhu
