Can't change vendor in new development component

I'm trying to create a new Web DynPro development component from NWDS. I have imported the development configuration and am now following this procedure:

Development Configurations Perspective -> Inactive DCs -> Browse to the right SC -> Right click it, and click 'Create New DC...'

In the dialogue that comes up, I'm not able to change the vendor - sap.com is selected, and the box is greyed out. But other DCs within this SC have other vendors configured - among them, the vendor I want to use.

Also: in the same dialogue box, there are several options in the dropdown box in front of the 'name' field. How are these options configured, and what do they mean?

This is all handled by the Name Reservation of the SLD. You should check its configuration and the defined Namespace Prefixes for Development Components.
