Sending Mail from SAP to External mail error

Former Member

Hi Experts,

We are on ECC 6.0. I have configured the standard SAP system for

sending mails from within SAP to our company mail server. The

mails from SAP are going successfully to our official company

ids, But when i am trying to send mails to outside address like

eg. " email@removed " or " email@removed ", it is not going and

giving an error recipient unknown.

The configuration of SAPConnect is correct because mails are

going successfully to our company id, to send outside do i need

to do something extra???

Please help.

Regards

Hi,

I think it has to do sometnig with you company mail server. Like in our company it is allowed to send mails just within the companys email adress pool (external email are discarded) so if mail server dont know the adress email@removed you just receive recipient unknown error. Or am I wrong?

Hi,

1, SCOT

2. Double click on SMTP, a screen "sap connect" will popup.

Here give details for SMTP Connection

Under "Supported address types"

check the "internet"

Then click on button "Set"

then another pop window will appear. HERE GIVE * FOR IN THE ADDRESS AREA.

Then save it.

The u will able to send mails to external address.

Hi Kiran,

I am on ECC6 as well. We had configured our system for external mail.

1.) tcode = SCOT

2.) double click SMTP

3.) under "SMTP Connection" section, fill in your mail host IP and the port number.

4.) under "Supported address types", make sure Internet is checked, and click on "Set". The Address area has to be *

5.) To test route,

SCOT -->Utilities --> Routing test

RecipientAddr.type = INT

Recipient addr. = <external email address>

6.) You also need to set the Default Domain.

SCOT --> Settings --> Default Domains

Hi Kent,

If I add 1 more step to your list, then the mail option is working for me.

7.) Come back to SCOT and click on Utilities-->Start send process(Ctrl+F7) and execute.

I dont know as to why we should do step 7,but in my case the mails were sent only after performing step7.

Just by composing a mail and sending it dint help in my case so I had to use step 7.

Can you please suggest how we can avoid this step?

You need to check the STMP Relay settings on your Exchange Server. or SMTP server.
