Sales Order for item 10 is -

---

50 nos , however stock available with me is only 40 nos, so invoice made for only 40 nos.

Hence qty balance in sales order is 10.

That means for this particular sales order back order is 10 nos OK.

Yes absolutely right. At a later date when stock is available for this 10 nos., you will be consolidating with other items and despatch to customer.

Whatever orders cannot be executed as scheduled but at a later date if you execute, that is called backorder process.

That portion of an order that cannot be delivered at the scheduled time, but will be delivered at a later date when available.
