Fixed BOM and Flexible BOM

Hello,

Is there such thing as fixed and flexible BOM? If there is, what is the difference between the two and how could I set them up.

Hi Jimmy,

I have not heard anything like flexible BOM.

But in SAP we ave the Variant Configuration, in which you can choose which components or charestics of the components you wish to have.

You search in SDN wiki on Variant Configuration and you will have more details on it.

Hi,

There is no such concept in SAP. Its based on the business process and requirement we create BOM's and change it during transactions. Normally BOMs are created with some components. If you require to change this fixed ones, i.e., which is coming from the BOM master, then this can be done by configuring your item categories in VOV4.
