Procedure to convert brbackup to RMAN using backint.

Hi,

I have my oracle 10g databases being backed up using brbackup with backint interface. Now I plan to use RMAN. So I installed RMAN netbackup client on the server and changed the

backup_dev_type=rman_util

When I run the brbackup to use RMAN to backup the database it fails with following error.

channel sbt_1: starting piece 1 at 21-FEB-08

released channel: sbt_1

RMAN-00571: ===========================================================

RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============

RMAN-00571: ===========================================================

RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on sbt_1 channel at 02/21/2008 13:06:17

ORA-19506: failed to create sequential file, name="ISN_bdxhwium.4_1", parms=""

ORA-27028: skgfqcre: sbtbackup returned error

ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:

VxBSACreateObject: Failed with error:

Server Status: timed out waiting for media manager to mount volume

I tried to search around on net/SAP doc/SAP forums but could not find any process which I need to follow to be successful. If somebody can give me some guideline, I will appreciate it. From the error, it looks like that RMAN is not able to communicate to Media Managem Layer. Where do I need to specify media manager layer info (Actually it should be RMAN client for netbackup or it should be backint).

Any pointer will be appreciated.

Hi Shailandra,

did you install the media management library correctly?

Note [#142635|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes142635] - Installation of a backup library for Oracle should give you an idea how to do this.

Hi .

Basically,These error is returned from the media management software which is linked with Oracle.

Check with Media managment Software for any issue.
