MATNR Field Length?

Dear All,

Is it possible to increase the Field length of MATNR from 18 to more than 35 character.

If yes how to do it?

this is purely customisation part.we do not change

standered field lenth which is 18

i felt that that field lenth is enough for processing

Hi,

standard sap supports only 18 characters length for MATNR.

But we have implemented DIMP plugin to have a 35 character material number converted into 18 character. Because during SAP 3.0B i think 35 characters were supported, so we had to this conversion. however its a time consuming and critical process to implement this.

Hi,

SAP does not allow to change any Standard field that it has provided.

We can do this by getting the access key,but its not advisable..Becoz this table may be dependent to other tables also and some programs also..So if u change here it may cause a big problem..

otherwise, make a custom Z-table and custom field in that and then do any changes u like
