Hi,
Simple as it gets
Inquiry - Out of SAP, Pre-Sales activity - Getting to know about products
Quotation - Blocked Order - Prospect
Sales Order - Confirmed Order - Customer
Impact is that Inquiry and Quotation's are possible for the same product from various prospects, whereas sales order is against single customer.
Hope you find it helpful
Reward points if you do

Hi Amarnath
Inquiry and Quotation have the same meaning in SAP as what they do in standard Sales process in the real world. I am sure both these terms are nothing new and have the same connotation when you were in Sales before becoming an SD Consultant.

Dear amarnath
In simple terminology, inquiry is nothing but incoming process and quotation is outgoing process.
You receive an inquiry from customer which is incoming process. For that inquiry, if you give quotation to your customer, that is outgoing process.
There would be no Impact on this. It is used only for statistical purpose. Many companies, if they want to track what are the sales that has been converted from inquiry / quotation, then in that case, you can generate such a report.

Inquiry is an internal document for us and this is what initiates a quotation.
A customer may give us a call and enquire about certain products ..
We can record this in enquiry, and if he requests can send him a quotation as well.
In reporting we can track which product generated how much enquiry. How many enquiries resulted in quotations and final sales.
