What is the use of the requirement type , requirement class
Is there any link between requriment class and availibility check ?
hi,
Requirements type
The various requirements are identified by their requirements type. The requirements type refers to the requirements class and its control features.
Requirements Class
The requirements class contains all control features for planning such as relevance for planning, requirements planning strategy and requirements consumption strategy. In addition, it is specified at a global level whether an availability check is to take place for the material in the sales and distribution documents on the basis of the ATP quantity (ATP = available to promise) and whether requirements are to be passed on. A finer degree of control can be obtained for sales documents using the schedule line category.
The availability check must be switched on at requirements class level and - for the availability check in the sales documents - at schedule line category level to be able to carry availability check.

Whenever a sales order is confirmed, a demand is made on MM and PP to make available the goods within the delivery specified. IN order to know the scope of the check and what parameters needs to be taken into account the Transfer of requirements are maintained.
This is based on the requirements class and requirements type. Along with the checking group in Availability check customising the Requirements are transferred and based on this the Availability check is carried out.

Performing transfer of requirements is dependent on a number of factors. They determine whether and how requirements should be transferred and if they should be checked against planned requirements. The transfer of requirements in sales can be switched on or off by transaction as required. For example, you can switch off the transfer of requirements for inquiries and quotations, whereas you can switch it on for sales orders and deliveries.

You will also find information on production planning and, in particular, on independent requirements in the R/3 PP documentation as well as information on the availability check in Availability Check in Sales and Distribution Processing..
